MY NAME IS SHAWN, AND I USED TO DRIVE A BUS FOR THE PORT AUTHORITY HERE IN PITTSBURGH,PA. I USED TO BE ASSIGNED TO THE Ross Division

I HAVE SINCE MOVED TO SUNNY FLORIDA...BASKING IN THE WONDERFUL SUN AND NOT MISSING THE SNOW SHOVEL AT ALL...

HOWEVER, I WILL STILL KEEP THIS WEBSITE GOING AS I REALIZE HOW MUCH ENJOYMENT THIS SITE BRINGS TO SO MANY WORLDWIDE.

I HAD THIS SITE DOWN FOR QUITE SOME TIME, BUT HAVE DECIDED TO RESURECT IT BECAUSE TOO MANY PEOPLE ENJOYED SURFING THIS SITE, AND ASKED FOR ITS RETURN. IT BRINGS BACK MEMORIES FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE, AND IF I CAN MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY, I WILL TRY TO DO THAT.

WHILE YOU ARE AT IT, PLEASE FEEL FREE TO VISIT MY NEW SITE, DEDICATED TO WHAT I AM NOW DOING...

On Site Transit Stops

I am going to now present some pages dedicated to EACH type of vehicle The Authority currently runs, that way you can simply click on each make and look at pictures. Here is the list...

Here are the retired vehicles we used to have. You can simply click on each make and look at pictures.

Now for some other pictures...There is a lot to explore, so have fun! I have mixed a lot of the bus and rail pictures here to make it so the other pages aren't so big!

This page is about Pittsburghs Light Rail. I have placed different facts and some other things here for your enjoyment.

Let's take a look at Port Authoritys Busways...This is bus rapid transit at its finest!

This is the "gold" times page. These are from the late 80's through today. Not all the buses are colored in the new design colors and lots still remain in the good old original red and white scheme.

My little RV conversion that ALMOST was...My Lil' Neoplan.

One of my favorite times to photograph is at night, so without further adu, here is the page I call "Nite Shots".

This is a variety page. Things that just don't seem to fit right anywhere else. Things like our loaner buses (I used to get one of these each morning when I was at Collier) The PAT Train, and the skybus are here.

This is the All Time bus roster for the Port Authority, since the inception of the company back in 1964. Check here for the years and models, and some interesting notes too.

This is a compilation of all the trolley routes that Pittsburgh Railways had, and their reason for abandonment, as well as their numerous Carhouses, and a list of all the bus companies that were taken over in 1964 to make up Port Authority. Also included is a list of the cities Inclines. This is interesting reading...

Here is a unique and very special event in Transit History in Pittsburgh, was a first here, and to my knowledge, in the USA as well, and something that will be sure to put a smile on your face, and it couldn't have happened to two better people, who I am proud to call my friends.

Ever wonder what happens to buses and trolleys when the end of the line comes? You may be surprised... Some of the pictures you see here on this site, you will also see them in service, if you look around. These buses and trolleys have arrived at the final destination...

This is a page that I am dedicating to the Drake Shuttle whose days have since come and gone. The last day for the PCC car in Pittsburgh has become a reality, as the last day was September 4, 1999. Here are some pictures to commemorate the 47D Drake Shuttle as it was when I operated her. It will be missed. Goodbye, ol' friend... we'll miss ya! Included too, are pictures of the fantrip, which I was proud to be part of.

This page is dedicated to a little history of the predecessor of the Port Authority, none other than Pittsburgh Railways. This is the place for the late great red and cream colors of days gone by! This page is PCC oriented, although there are a few of the old yellow cars thrown in. There are also shots of the PCCs up to the drab "grey" PAT era here too.

And for the lighter side of transit, here is my comedy page...

My son has a few pages on here relating to his favorite things...school buses, motorcoaches, and soon, semi trucks. Please take a look at his stuff.

This page highlights the Old Neoplan Pennliner fantrip in February, 2003. Ross bus 1602 was used for this event. It marks the end of service for the Neoplan Pennliner in Pittsburgh.

This page is my credits and disclaimer page. I have a few things there for anyone who would like to submit photos, and credits to the wonderful people who have given me permission to use their items (where known). To that end, please remember, contributions are greatly appreciated !!!

Here are some great bus and trolley web sites that I have found. This list will be growing rapidly, so keep checking back!

I have been nebbing on the web for a LONG time now, and have come across other sites that are not mass transit related, but are interesting and funny nonetheless. Check em' out!

Lets meet the Pittsburgh Transit Family.
