1978 saw the arrival of 180 AM General transit coaches. 140 of these were 40 foot (2650-2789) and 40 were 35 foot coaches (1260-1299).

Initally, Drivers didnt like the fact that there was no power steering on the buses, but that issue was rectified when the Authority rectified the issue by adding it. The buses were extremely powerful and really charged through the snow!

The buses had 8V71s with a 3 speed automatic...
