MY NAME IS SHAWN, AND I USED TO DRIVE A BUS FOR THE PORT AUTHORITY HERE IN PITTSBURGH, PA. I USED TO BE ASSIGNED TO THE ROSS DIVISION.

THEN, IN APRIL OF 2006, MY CAREER AT THE AUTHORITY ENDED SUDDENLY, AND REALLY SHOCKED ME. I HAD THIS SITE DOWN FOR QUITE SOME TIME, PRETTY MUCH BECAUSE OF SELF CENTERED IRRITATION AT THIS ONCE MIGHTY COMPANY, BUT HAVE DECIDED TO RESURECT IT BECAUSE TOO MANY PEOPLE ENJOYED SURFING THIS SITE, AND ASKED FOR ITS RETURN IN MANY, MANY PRIVATE EMAILS. IT BRINGS BACK FOND MEMORIES FOR A LOT OF PEOPLE, AND IF I CAN MAKE SOMEONE HAPPY, I WILL TRY TO DO THAT.

I HAVE SINCE MOVED TO SUNNY FLORIDA...BASKING IN THE WONDERFUL SUN AND NOT MISSING THE DREADED SNOW SHOVEL AT ALL.., BUT SOMEHOW A PART OF ME SHALL ALWAYS CALL PITTSBURGH MY HOME.

IN AN EFFORT TO MAKE THIS PAGE INTERESTING FOR YOU, I AM ALWAYS HUNTING PICTURES OR SLIDES OF THE FOLLOWING

1- GMC RTS BUSES

2- AM GENERALS

3- COLORFUL PCCS

4- PITTSBURGH RAILWAYS PCCs

5- NEOPLAN PENNLINERS

AND FINALLY THE ILL FATED SKYBUS AT SOUTH PARK, AND WHATEVER ELSE YOU CAN CONTRIBUTE.

AS YOU CAN IMAGINE, IT IS VERY EASY TO OBTAIN PICTURES OF THE MODERN BUSES AND RAIL CARS. IT IS, HOWEVER, NEXT TO IMPOSSIBLE TO GET THE OLDER STUFF. ANY HELP YOU CAN GIVE IS DEEPLY APPRECIATED AND WILL ALLOW THIS TO CONTINUE TO BE THE "HISTORY" PAGE. PLEASE USE THE EMAIL LINK AT THE BOTTOM OF THIS PAGE. YOU SHALL BE PROPERLY CREDITED WITH YOUR NAME ON THE CREDITS PAGE!

LETS GO ON OUR JOURNEY!

I am going to now share some pages dedicated to EACH type of vehicle the Authority currently runs, that way you can simply click on each make and look at pictures. Here is the list...

Here are the retired vehicles we used to have. You can simply click on each one and you will be transported to the pictures gallery.

Now for some other pictures...There is a lot to explore, so have fun! I have mixed a lot of the bus and rail pictures here to make it so the other pages aren't so big!

This page is about Pittsburghs Light Rail. I have placed different facts and some other things here for your enjoyment. Also here are the links to the two LRV picture pages!

Let's take a look at Port Authoritys Busways...This is Bus Rapid Transit at its finest!

Pittsburghs Inclines are a great asset to the city, and are really interesting. Look at them here, and learn a bit about them.

Skybus...Pittsburgh failed experiment...But it was a cool idea though!

One of my favorite times to photograph is at night, so without further adu, here is the page I call "Nite Shots".

This is the variety page. Things that just don't seem to fit right anywhere else. Things like our loaner buses (I used to get one of these each morning when I was at Collier) as well as the PAT Train.

This is the All Time bus roster for the Port Authority, since the inception of the company back in 1964. Check here for the years and models, and some interesting notes too.

This is a compilation of all the trolley routes that Pittsburgh Railways had, and their reason for abandonment, as well as their numerous Carhouses, and a list of all the bus companies that were taken over in 1964 to make up Port Authority. Also included is a list of the cities Inclines. This is interesting reading...

This was a unique and very special event in Transit History in Pittsburgh, was a first here, and to my knowledge, in the USA as well, and something that will be sure to put a smile on your face, and it couldn't have happened to two better people, who I am proud to call my friends.

Ever wonder what happens to buses and trolleys when the end of the line comes? You may be surprised... Some of the pictures you see here on this site, you will also see them in service, if you look around. These buses and trolleys have arrived at the final destination...

On September 5, 1999, we ran a fantrip and we took the PCC car out for one last hurrah. I was the proud operator of 4009. Come on along for the memories.

This is a page that I am dedicating to the PCC in the 80's and 90's, whose days have since come and gone. The last day for the PCC car in Pittsburgh has become a reality, as the last day was September 4, 1999. Here are some pictures to commemorate the 47D Drake Shuttle and the PCC as it was when I operated her. It will be missed. Goodbye, ol' friend... we'll miss ya!

This page is dedicated to a little history of the predecessor of the Port Authority, none other than Pittsburgh Railways. This is the place for the late great red and cream colors of days gone by! This page is PCC oriented, although there are a few of the old yellow cars thrown in. There are also shots of the PCCs up to the drab "grey" PAT era here too.

Here is a page all about West Penn Railways. Believe it or not, they played an important part in the transit history in Pittsburgh.

The predecessor to the PCC...The Jones Car...See them here!

And for the lighter side of transit, here is my comedy page...

My son has a few pages on here relating to his favorite things...school buses, motorcoaches, and soon, semi trucks. Please take a look at his stuff.

This page highlights the Old Neoplan Pennliner fantrip in February, 2003. Ross bus 1602 was used for this event. It marks the end of service for the Neoplan Pennliner in Pittsburgh.

If you would like to see some of the other websites I have created, simply click this whole paragraph.

This page is my credits and disclaimer page. I have a few things there for anyone who would like to submit photos, and credits to the wonderful people who have given me permission to use their items (where known). To that end, please remember, contributions are greatly appreciated !!!

Here are some great bus and trolley web sites that I have found. This list will be growing rapidly, so keep checking back!

I have been nebbing on the web for a LONG time now, and have come across other sites that are not mass transit related, but are interesting and funny nonetheless. Check em' out!

Let's meet the Pittsburgh Transit Family.
